Activity: EXPERIMENTS WITH TEXTURE

you will need

  • A selection of different art media
  • A selection of applicators, for example brushes, palette knives, sticks, fingers etc
  • Some paper or your sketchbook

what to do

Create samples of both visual and surface texture. Try the following:

experiment with different media, adding thickeners, using different ways to apply it.

different additive techniques, for example painting, collaging, layering, embellishing.

different subtractive techniques, for example scratching, distressing, burning,

 Photograph your work as you go along. Add your work and supporting evidence to your portfolio
